The School of Physics and Astronomy at Cardiff University is one of the most popular in the UK. We deliver a wide-range of physics teaching in an in-depth and integrated way - all in a setting which allows students to nurture their interests and explore their ideas.

We offer a wide range of flexible degree schemes, some of which are built on the research activities of our academic members of staff. You can find specific information about each programme here. All of our degree programmes have been accredited by the Institute of Physics.

The School has a total of about 280 undergraduate students and recruits about 100 each year.

Research-Led Teaching

Cardiff is internationally recognised as being among the very top tier of Britain's research intensive universities and is a member of the prestigious Russell Group of leading universities.

There are 35 members of academic staff who are able to provide access to a wide spectrum of interests and specialist subjects. Many are internationally renowned in their particular areas of study. Current research projects attract multi-million pound funding from numerous sources, the most important of which are from the Research Councils and international space agencies.
