Colloquium
The Quest for the Higgs Boson
Speaker: Prof John Ellis ( Kings College London )
Date: Wednesday 6 March 2013
Time: 16:00
Venue: N/4.07
On July 4th the ATLAS and CMS experiments at CERN's LHC announced the discovery of a new fundamental particle in their searches for the Higgs boson, first postulated over 48 years ago. Is the new discovery really this Holy Grail of particle physics? What do we know about it so far, and how will we pin down its identification? What are its implications for other possible new physics at the LHC and future accelerators?
