Graduation 2013, Monday 15 July

Celebrating Graduates

The 2013 Graduation Ceremony for School of Physics and Astronomy students will be held on Monday 15 July at 2.30 pm at St David’s Hall, Cardiff. Please click on the links for further details.

School Graduation Reception

Prior to the ceremony there will be a School Celebration Buffet and Drinks Reception on the Ground Floor of the School building, rooms N/0.06 and N/0.07 from 12.00 noon – 1.30 pm. Graduating students are kindly requested to wear their cap and gowns to this event for the purposes of the School Graduation photograph. All graduating students are invited to the Reception but we request that you bring no more than three guests because of space restrictions. In addition, Year 3 MPhys students are invited to join in with the School celebration with their cohort.

During the reception the Sir Arthur Davies Prize and the Professor John Parrott Prize will be presented to students for the best performance in final examinations.

You will receive emails to your personal and Cardiff accounts from the Registry to complete the Graduation Attendance task on SIMS Online. The online task will be available March 2013 until 23 June 2013.

Gown Ordering

Orders can be submitted to Ede & Ravenscroft from March 2013 until 28 June 2013.

Debtors

Students with outstanding debts to the University of more than £30 will not be presented to the Awards Committee and therefore will not be eligible to attend Graduation. Any unsettled fees must be paid by the following deadlines:

Degree certificates

Degree certificates are issued by the Student Records Team in Registry. Certficates are issued 8 weeks from the date of the Awards Committee that conferred the award; therefore, certificates for undergraduate students will not be issued until early September 2013.

Certificates are sent to your home address as it is held on SIMS; you will be sent an email by the Student Records Team before your certificate is issued to confirm your postal address. It is essential, therefore, that you ensure your SIMS record is kept up to date with any address changes.

Please note that you will receive your degree certificate irrespective of whether you attended the Graduation Ceremony.
